On your repetitive daily dog walks, have you ever wished that you had a dog-walking buddy ?
Sometimes you're lucky enough to get to meet another dog parent on your walk, but after a brief conversation, you politely head in different directions. What if you and your dogs could've both carried on walking together because you didn't have any particular plans, but you naturally both assumed otherwise?
I'm a proud mother of my curly four-legged child Rodrigo, and I also have been in countless such situations. After searching online for an app that would help with these challenges but found nothing, I decided to take on the challenge of creating this app myself.
Two years later and with the help of some awesome developers who also believe in the cause, came the rise of the WagsUnite app.
So what exactly is it for? Let me give you a rundown.
Dog Socialisation Made Easy
The first problem we aimed to solve is the struggle to find the right match to socialize your dog, coupled with not knowing where to go to socialize your dog safely. And so, we created the "Hangout" feature. This of course, comes together with owner and doggy profiles.
Anyone on the app can create a public hangout that everyone in the area will be notified about so that they can request to join. All you need is a title, location, time, date, and a little description. Whether it's a long-planned hike over the weekend or a spontaneous walk around the neighborhood, other dog parents who are up for that will be able to see it and join you and your pup on your adventure.
Each profile has doggy temperaments and preferences, which will help you avoid the potential conflicts that can arise, with for example, two very dominant males.
Explore a World of Dog-Friendly Places Near You
Next time you feel like going out for a coffee date or to grab some lunch, open the WagsUnite app to see variety of dog-friendly places in your area. Most of the places that you will find on the app have been hand-picked based on other dog parents' experiences or after doing extensive research.
You can discover coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, and retail stores, each offering specific information on their dog-friendly amenities. This includes details on whether dogs are allowed inside or outside, the availability of doggy bowls, and even if the restaurant offers doggy menus and treats!
Dog-Friendly Activities : Your Pup Doesn't Have to Stay Home !
Your activities don’t have to be just for you and your friends—sometimes, your dog can join in too! On the app, you'll find a variety of dog-friendly activities, from common spots like parks and beaches to specific organized events and adventure activities such as SUP and kayak tours. Just like with the dog-friendly places, all activities are hand-picked by me, or included after extensive research and suggestions from others.
Each activity includes relevant, specific dog-related information, along with any associated costs.

Our newest feature connects you with other dog parents and their furry friends within the WagsUnite community in your area. This allows you to chat, share ideas, and even plan meetups to help socialize your dogs. It’s a fantastic way to exchange tips, discover new dog-friendly spots, and ensure your dogs get the social interaction they need while you build connections with fellow dog lovers!
The Pros of Using A Social App for You and Your Dog
Enhanced Socialization: Regular positive interactions with other dogs can boost your dog’s confidence, improve their social skills, and reduce behavioral issues like anxiety and aggression. Knowing the other dog's profile and quirks beforehand can help you set-up multiple consistent positive interactions.
Diverse Experiences: Regular outings to dog-friendly locations help acclimate your dog to various environments, making them more confident and relaxed. In turn, this also means they get their brain more stimulated which reduces behavioral problems caused by boredom.

Despite all the great features, the app is still relatively new, so you might encounter some quirks along the way.
